It is our hope that an overwhelming majority of people using this site are honest fishermen looking to buy or sell a boat, motor, or some fishing gear. However, scam artists are everyplace these days, trolling their ridiculous schemes out there looking for a bite.

Beware of offers to buy your item for more than you are selling it for or odd pickup or shipping arrangements. Another red flag is poor grammar and misspellings in an email reply.

Staff members at CastingDeck have personally bought and sold many boats, trolling motors, props, and electronic gear using the Internet and have never had any problems. Our best advice is to make telephone contact with the buyer/seller and talk about the product. You'll want to do that for more details anyway. You'll likely know in minutes if the person is legit.
